Have you ever felt a magical connection to one special cat in your life?
From the moment their dog, Jake, came into their lives he had made his
feelings about cats perfectly clear - they were best served on a plate,
with a side order of fries! This was very disheartening to author
Christine Davis because she and her husband wanted to adopt a kitten
and bring some magical feline energy into their home. Jake, however,
wasn't going to make this easy.
Two years went by and Jake, content and secure, finally realized he was
a cherished member of the Davis family. One day the author looked out her
window and saw Jake with his ears up and his head cocked sideways, staring
at the ground. There at his feet was a little kitten, sitting very still.
It had badly infected eyes and probably couldn't see the big dog drooling
above it. The author ran outside, hoping to prevent the cat attack she felt
sure was coming. But Jake just stared at the helpless creature, then looked
up at Ms. Davis and then turned back to the kitten. Perhaps it was because
he remembered a time when he, too, had needed a home. We will never know.
But in that one moment Jake opened his heart to the little tabby kitten,
and suddenly Pippen had become part of the family.
More meowing told them that Pippen was not an only child. Indeed, she had
a brother who was hiding under the deck. With a little bit of food as
encouragement the black kitten with the bent tail crawled out, and that
is how Dickens found his place in the household. Later that night the mama
cat who lived in the woods brought more kittens and left them on the front
porch. Molly, a black and white tuxedo cat, and Star and Gracie, her sleek,
black sisters were brought in from the cold and Jake's kittens were finally
safe and the family was complete.
Jake brooded over his feline family, licking the formula off of their faces
and nosing them back if they wandered too far. He would lie down on the floor
and the kittens would swarm over him, snuggling into his thick, warm fur.
Although Gracie was destined to make her home with some good friends, Dickens,
Pippen, Molly and Star immediately settled in and took over the house. Jake's
days became very busy, what with four active charges to take care of. But it
was the author whose life was changed forever. She hadn't realized there had
been four empty places in her heart that only these little furballs could
fill. She hadn't realized she had needed a feline fairy Godmother, a role that
Pippen was meant to fill. She hadn't realized life could be so much more fun
if you looked at the world through the eyes of a kitten.

Star into the Davis household and to thank them for enchanting the author

About the Author: Christine Davis
Christine Davis has been an animal lover all her life. In 1995 she
decided to transition out of the corporate workplace and follow her
heart toward work that would express her love and respect for animals.
Her journey led her to a woman of Native American descent who used sound
as a method of healing. By learning to listen to the sounds and songs of
the natural world, Ms. Davis was able to deepen her understanding and
appreciation of animals and the many gifts they bring to us.
It was during this time the author suffered the devastating loss of her
beloved dog, Martha. Unable to find a book that understood her feelings of
loss and spoke to her heart, Ms. Davis wrote For Every Dog An Angel as a
way of acknowledging the special relationship she and Martha had shared.
Shortly thereafter the author and her husband were adopted by Jake, a Border
Collie and German Shepherd mix who needed a home and some people to love...and
herd. "Where will he sleep?" the animal shelter form asked. "Anywhere he wants
to" the author wrote. So Jake took his place on their bed and in their hearts.
It was Jake who discovered the litter of kittens under the deck and invited

Our kitten who was 10 months old recently died of an untreatable disease. I
have two children (ages 6 and 10) so I was looking for a book to help them.
Well this book also helped me. WOW! This book describes how every kitty has a
guardian angel and the guardian angel helps it find it's "forever person".
But, the day comes when kitty is at the end of their earthly life and then it
becomes a "forever cat" and rejoins it's angel. The part I liked most was how
the book describes how your "forever cat" wants you to be happy even if it
means bringing a new kitty into your life. And the "forever cat" will be happy
because you still have so much love to share. This helped because my children
were afraid to get another kitty because it might make our "angel kitty" mad.
It goes on to describe how the angel takes care of it until the day comes when
the "forever person" and "forever cat" meet again across the angel bridge. I
know the review says for 6-8 year olds but I think every adult pet owner will
find comfort in this book. Blessings be with you!!
